Emma #1

Does anyone else have really deep thoughts in the shower or when they're about to go to bed? There's probably some physiological (spelt right first time, SCORE) reason for it but whatever, it's weird and slightly annoying because I generally forget whatever I was thinking about if I am within reaching distance of a pen.

 However one thing that I think about often(ish) is how there are so many different sides to people (though it would seem that none of my mini-Emmas are that good at keeping blogs going).
Most of theses Emmas are evident throughout my tumblr.

 Emma #1 was at her peak around spring 2010. She adores dusky pink, little British towns, kittens, vintage bikes and cars, Alice in Wonderland, fruit, spring, flowers, Blythe dolls, country style cottages, Cath Kidston, long eyelashes, fields, fairy lights, tea, Lenka, pleated preppy skirts, floral dresses, brogues, bunnies, deer and just  cute animals in general. Emma #1 is innocent, sweet, cheerful and says "wow" a lot.

Mini album ransack

As it says to the side there, I love my Grandma. And I'm interested in older times. So, naturally I had a look through some photo albums of hers.
Here are my favourite pictures that I scanned, ranging from 1941-1949.

My Grandad around 1946

My grandma's dog Chips- what a cutie.

I haven't a clue who the man is but he looks very dapper.

Penny farthing and top hat at a gala around 1948

I really love high-waisted bikinis like this one.

Oh, and I couldn't miss out a cat picture could I?

The people that I like #1

Helena Bonham Carter
 This post began like with about 4 other people and a sentence each. But Helena is so fantastic she should have her own post. Also, I have so many Helena-relevant things in my tumblr drafts I decided I should get round to using them for something.
Okay, so. She has the best facial expressions. Her hair has achieved it's own level of epic. She's so bloody amusing and charismatic and cute
And her cheekbones, wow (couldn't find a very good picture but I love hollow cheekbones).
She can work the thrown together, sometimes slightly bizarre[1] style.
Have you noticed that in recent premieres[2] she's worn accessories relevant to the film[3]? Also, remember the mismatched shoes at the Golden Globes and the union jack garter at the Oscars? Not entirely relevant but worth a mention.
As for her acting. Her eyes and eyebrows are so expressive - "hyperactive". Every single one of her characters is brilliant. I can't even say how much I love Mrs Lovett, Bellatrix and Marla Singer.
Chris Colfer and Luella Bartley[4] like her too apparantly.
Oh, and she and Tim Burton are perfect.

xo

[1] Fairly normal you say? Take a look at the shoes. I can't imagine anyone but her pulling those off.
[2] That's a lips purse for The Kings Speech
[3] And a castle purse for Harry Potter
[4] She was featured in the book "Luella's Guide to English Style"

PS, I promise this isn't turning into a celebrity blog.
 I also solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

A Tribute

Today it's been two years since my cat -yes, cat- Misha died.
I know some people don't particuarly care for pets, but they really do become an important part of the family.

He was a little grumpy sod, his favourite blanket was pink, he went crazy over chicken and had a gorgeous velvety nose.

In MY cot, cheeky.

Said blanket.

8th August 1992-15th July 2009

Yesterday (all my troubles seemed so far away etc)

Yesterday I went to the induction day at college.
The proper induction day was last week and this one was just for people who couldn't make it then, so there were about 25 students tops and almost everyone arrived on their own. Awkwardness was inevitable.

Either way, I managed to go and see the tutors for most of the classes I was interested in, which were:

*Perfomance Studies
* Theatre Studies
* Media Studies
* Film Studies
* Sociology
* Communication and Culture
* Art

Now to pick four of those in time for August...
The problem is they're all pretty similar and I could really do with a varied choice since I have no idea what I want to do for a career.
Plus I'm still unsure if Art covers Textiles, graphics and all of those, or if they can be picked as separate classes, since I don't want to do Fine Art all the time.
And I don't know if photography comes as part of Media or Art. Or both.

GAAAAAAAAH

On a lighter note, heres what I wore:

And of course a top. A stripy strapless H&M one for that matter.
I also wore the trusty brogues featured in my last post and a sheer(ish) cream shirt with brown and dark red details from Warehouse.
My hair seems to be all... iffy in that photo. My apologies.
The scarf/headband I bought from a vintage fair, and the rust shorts are from Tophop.
The tights of course are (well-worn and ripped) House of Holland. Those tights don't half piss my parents off.

In the mirror

So, this is what I wore today:

Yes, classic teenage-girl-in-the-mirror-with-flash pose. Forgive me? I have to be honest, the camera is new and I haven't yet found self timer (or a friend to take a photo for that matter). Note the failed mini victory rolls in my hair. Oh and the cut on my leg, lovely yes?

My top is stretchy and made to look like denim, from H&M. It has a zip down the front (which I don't particularly like) and I unzipped it slightly then tucked the parts in to form more of a sweetheart neckline.

Here are my H&M brogues (plus lacy socks and some random material...)
I love brogues but never have the patience for tying shoelaces prettily. Hmm.

And belt- I have absolutely no idea where that belt came from. The skirt is from a thrift store in Liverpool. I can usually find brilliant vintage shops in any area in England, except Manchester. Which is where I live. Typical.

And the bag? Well, a Union Jack tin lunch-box of course!
(aren't tin lunch-boxes and box bags just so cute?)

I'd like to say that I wore this to a vintage fair or a park but... well all I did today was go to a particuarly long doctors appointment. Hence the indoor photos. Hmm, I really need to do more with this summer!

Speaking of which, I've been looking into volunteer work for this next couple of months at theatres and animal sanctuaries, though maybe I should look for a paying job to feed my shopping addictions...

Starting out

I've had this account for so long without actually making a blog, it's ridiculous. So this is my blog, so named from a line (well, two words) in Marina and the Diamond's song "Hermit the Frog", and I have a love for glass things- they're so delicate and beautiful!

 I'll probably be posting:
Outfits
Rants
My cats (heh)
And general blog-worthy things that I come across or do...

And if no one reads this, so be it!
